I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds.
I beseech thee for my child, whom I have begotten in my bonds, Onesimus,
I appeal to you for my [own spiritual] child Onesimus, whom I have fathered [in the faith] while a captive in these chains.
I appeal to you for my [own spiritual] child, Onesimus [meaning profitable], whom I have begotten [in the faith] while a captive in these chains.
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
appeal to you for my son, Onesimus. I became his father while I was in chains.
appeal to you for my child Onesimus. I became his father in the faith during my time in prison.
My request to you concerns my son, of whom I became the father while here in prison, Onesimus.
I beg you to help Onesimus! He is like a son to me because I led him to Christ here in jail.
I exhort thee for *my* child, whom I have begotten in [my] bonds, Onesimus,
I am appealing to you concerning my child whom I fathered in my imprisonment, Onesimus,
I beseech thee for my son, whom I have begotten in my bands, Onesimus,
I am asking you for my son Onesimus. He became my son while I was in prison.
So I am asking you to help Onesimus, who is like my own child. I taught him about Jesus while I was in prison. Because of that, he now has life with God. I am like his father.
I am appealing to you on behalf of my child Onesimus. I became his father while I was in chains.
I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment.
I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment.
am ·pleading with [appealing to; urging; encouraging] you for my child Onesimus, ·who became my child [L whom I begat/fathered; C Paul evidently led Onesimus to Christ in Rome] while I was in prison.
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds,
appeal to you for my child Onesimus [Useful]. I became his spiritual father here in prison.
So I make a request to you on behalf of Onesimus, who is my own son in Christ; for while in prison I have become his spiritual father.
appeal to you for my son, Onesimus. I fathered him while I was in chains.
I am asking you a favor for my son Onesimus. He became my son while I was in prison.
appeal to you on behalf of my child Onesimus, whose father I have become during my imprisonment.
And although I could rely on my authority in Christ and dare to order you to do what I consider right, I am not doing that. No, I am appealing to that love of yours, a simple personal appeal from Paul the old man, in prison for Jesus Christ’s sake. I am appealing for my child. Yes I have become a father though I have been under lock and key, and the child’s name is—Onesimus! Oh, I know you have found him pretty useless in the past but he is going to be useful now, to both of us.
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds,
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
I plead with you for my child Onesimus, of whom I became a father in my chains,
I am appealing to you concerning my child whom I became the father of during my imprisonment, Onesimus.
My plea is that you show kindness to my child Onesimus, whom I won to the Lord while here in my chains.
While here in jail, I’ve fathered a child, so to speak. And here he is, hand-carrying this letter—Onesimus! He was useless to you before; now he’s useful to both of us. I’m sending him back to you, but it feels like I’m cutting off my right arm in doing so. I wanted in the worst way to keep him here as your stand-in to help out while I’m in jail for the Message. But I didn’t want to do anything behind your back, make you do a good deed that you hadn’t willingly agreed to.
I appeal to you on behalf of my son Onesimus, whose father I have become in my imprisonment,
I appeal to you for · my child, Onesimus, whose father I became while in prison.
appeal to you for my child Onesimus [Useful]. I became his spiritual father here in prison.
I urge you on behalf of my child Onesimus, whose father I have become in my imprisonment,

I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my imprisonment,

I am an old man, and I’m in prison. This is how I make my appeal to you for my son Onesimus. He became a son to me while I was being held in chains.
